ABC's brutal ultimatum to George Stephanopoulos after his damning verdict on Biden
Daily Mail ^ | 7/10/24 | Stephen M. Lepore

George Stephanopoulos was threatened with being taken off air if he didn't clarify his position on Joe Biden's ability to serve another four years.

The ABC host gave his blunt assessment of the president's performance in a brief interview when he was ambushed on Tuesday.

The former Bill Clinton aide was asked on the street in Manhattan if Biden should step down and responded: 'I don't think he can serve four more years'.

Biden's interview with the former White House press secretary on Friday followed a disastrous debate performance on June 27.

Stephanopoulos, 63, appeared to quickly regret his off-the-cuff remark and offered a statement of regret.

'Earlier today I responded to a question from a passerby. I shouldn't have,' he said.

ABC News issued their own statement, saying, 'George expressed his own point of view and not the position of ABC News.'

What the two statements didn't reveal was the crisis Stephanopoulos' nine words kicked off at the highest level of the major network.

News division president Debra O'Connell called a panicked meeting with advisers and executives on Tuesday night, including public relations consultants.

'This was a fully-fledged crisis and it exploded with far-reaching reverberations,' an insider claimed to Radar Online.

She then hauled Stephanopoulos into a private meeting where she gave him an ultimatum: apologize or be yanked off air.

He should have stuck to his guns and be taken off the air. He could have made millions in lawsuits agains ABC for wrongful termination, book deals, and doing his own podcasts.

They’ll never fire him, he’s untouchable since he’s Clinton crony. A private office spanking will be all he gets.

The truth is something ABC can’t handle.

If he didn’t apologize, it is likely he would become persona non grata with some of the liberal elite..

What lawsuit would George have against ABC for being taken off the air? They would still have to pay his contract but that’s it. Just as with Tucker Carlson.

From the article:

“ABC bosses were reportedly concerned the veteran broadcaster had expressed a private opinion that would fatally undermine his appearance of objectivity.”

George got his mind right just in the nick of time.

There’s not much there to adjust.

Girl Boss will be fired within a year.

I was thinking the same thing, especially if Biden isn't nominated.

Exactly! The headline should read:
ABC news reporter tells truth, ABC News quickly corrects his mistake.

It would have been interesting to see how ABC reacted to this Clinton errand boy saying the exact same thing about Trump. I am quite sure that the response would have been [crickets].

ABC does not pay people to stray from the DNC narrative. They are all puppets.

Debra O'Connell: Apologize or be yanked off the air.

Stephanopoulos: Jeez, Debra, I was just speculatin' about a hypothesis, I know I don't know nothin'!

He thought he was having a private conversation. At least he knew the truth. I heard his dad died two weeks from a similar illness to Bidens.

ABC bosses were concerned the veteran broadcaster had expressed a private opinion that would fatally undermine his appearance of objectivity.

And there it is. The media vermin don’t care about ACTUAL objectivity, just the APPEARANCE of objectivity.

They lie incessantly, and this is them admitting it.

“ABC News issued their own statement, saying, ‘George expressed his own point of view and not the position of ABC News.”

Confirming what we always knew; that Stephnapolous is just a talking head always doing what his ABC political masters ask him to do. That’s how he got his ABC job and that’s how he’s kept it.

These people are eating each other.

Right now CNN is in some deep libel hot water and their defense is they don't report “news” objectively and that it is just “opinion”.

And we're supposed to think ABC is any different?
