“Federal law has been interpreted to prohibit states from checking to see if you’re a citizen even though, technically, the law says you must be a citizen,”

It is the job of Congress to make sure as practical that US law can be uniformly interpreted without doubt to those who must deal with it. And Joe’s job to let it do so.

Bingo!

Those unable to understand that also likely do not understand what the Pelosi-Dem phony Jan 6 "insurrection" was all about.

That Jan 6 of course was the date of the Joint Session convened for the sole purpose of accepting the electoral votes from the various states relative to selection of our next president.

That was the time for Congress to meet, consider and accept or reject votes on the basis of irregularities or corruption. Instead, we got chaos, confusion, coercion and a confused Pence.

Blatantly ignoring at the next Joint Session, the federal statute now of record passed by an earlier Congress that requires voters to be citizens ought to justify rejection of reckless states who do not verify U.S. citizenship.

I.e., such contrary acts of state official who have sworn to uphold federal laws should not be honored.
