"New Pan Am Soars, Reviving The Golden Age Of Air Travel" They'd have to bring back some of these:

Got a taste of the old-time charm of airlines when I first flew overseas back in (probably) 1957. I was just a new recruit, but we went overseas on a pretty new- at- the- time Super Constellation That had decent seating room. I think meals were provided, but we made a stop in Hawaii where we were put up at a nice hotel with Excellent meals. The only complaint I could see was the noise of the plane, which I’m sure was common back then. The last time I flew( just before 911) I remember them serving a meal on the plane for $10 & I didn’t think it looked anything like something I wanted to eat or even order if it was free. Needless to say, I haven’t flown since.

Lesson learned: “Lifetime” can be short in the airline industry.

It can be short no matter where you are...

>>>A far better time, in a far better America. We were still valuing competence over skin color and genitalia and celebrations of perversity.>>>

Exactly. The pilots in that commercial are my kind of pilots. Probably Vietnam, Korean, or World War 2 fighter pilot vets.

Pan Am took me to Germany in 60’s when I was in the sevice. Early DC 8 jet. Smooth as silk overnight flight. Don’t remember food. Tail end of the Golden Age of flight...and America. Super Connies were state of art at tail end of propeller age.

Pan Am one ended in 1991 but two other carriers bought the certificate, I flew for Pan Am three in 2002. Fleet of 727’s at the time.

The most reliable THREE engine airliner of all time, the Constellation.

This is probably going to end up being like the resurrected Eastern Airlines and just do charter flights.

In comparison to fast and high-flying modern jets, propeller airliners are slow, noisy, and subject to more frequent and severe weather turbulence and delays. Flying boats may seem romantic, but long oversea flights in them were a boring and punishing experience.
