@TiceRichard
Reform would have won 94 seats under PR; not 5
We could have stopped Labour’s majority
Tory’s foolish obsession with First Past Post is to blame

Neither was the new equipment.
Nor the foreign imports.
Sound familiar?
SSDDS.
Same 💩. Different Deep State.
As for first past the post, an interesting discussion at this link...
The UK's Deep State got exactly what it allowed people to vote for.
“Time to ditch First Past the Post, Freepers?”
Count me in, if I lived there!
They use the same system for House and Senate
Straight majority vote in the district/state wins
I’m not a fan of it really it can produce disproportionate outcomes and 2/3rds of the “races” are done for and “safe” meaning it’s down to few “swing” districts/states as to who gains control
I doubt the US will ever change though in Europe Proportionate Representation is common
While it may be a great idea for Britain, with their powerful central government, it would be toxic for our federation of States.
England has had first-past-the-post voting for members of parliament for 700 years.
As I said it won’t change in America because it suits 2 parties
But I dont like the system and you see the flaws especially in the House of Reps where I think it comes down to like 2 dozen swing districts as to who gains the majority with a lot of the district being safely in either parties column
Seems pointless and not very democratic .
The UK is a failure.
When Margaret was PM the fools didn’t realize it, but they were on the right track! Now the wreckage can’t be made right.
The perils of a diverse nation.
500 / 650 districts went left-wing
It’s just a natural turn after 14 years of misrule by the Conservatives in a 2-3 party system.
The economy has barely grown since then. So yeah, they got a kicking .
A well deserved one.
Well stated. The United Kingdom is no longer particularly united, weak militarily, losing its standard of living and eaten away by socialism and third-world-ism. Islam in Britain is on the move as the Church of England slits its own theological throat. All courtesy of liberals, and the Tories who forgot what conservative government should be.
"The wreckage can't be made right."
I was talking about other changes.
Look them up.
And read the info at the link I posted.
It explains why FOTP is problematic in places like the UK.
Like I said, the UK’s Deep State got exactly the results it allowed people to vote for.
Ranked voting is a scam
Your comments are right on target!
I miss the days when the UK was a joy to visit and offered much to be admired.
The UK’s Conservatives are comparable to the US’s Little Dick Dulrbin. Same for Canada!
Straight plurality..LA and CA have jungle primaries so they end up being straight majority.
I’ll agree jungle primary is better than RCV.
There’s also the French system of two elections, on successive Sundays, where the top two winners of the first election compete in the runoff.
The French runoffs are happening today, with conservative LePen being favored.
Most areas don't have runoff elections if no one hits 50%, so whoever gets the most votes wins even if less than half. That works well in a stable two party system, but is a mess when one of the parties is being replaced, which hasn't happened here since 1860.
And liberals and RINOs are trying to get Ranked voting in more states.
