Chinese Tianlong-3 Rocket Accidentally Launched During A Engine Test
https://x.com/WallStreetSilv/status/1807420368820347272
“Tianlong” is Chinese for Boeing.
Sum Ting Wong.
Or crappy Chinese bolts. Half the 1/4” lag bolts I tried on my last project snapped off with very little torq.
In the words of Butthead “That was cool! He he he he!”
“哎呀,對不起”

“Or else the bolts were made out of cheap Chinese steel...”
Probably Boeing mechanics.

Mighty powerful engine if it can launch when bolted down.
—
There is no indication they bolted it down, rather they may have used clamps.
Those boosters are meant to have many steel tie down cables and a substantial weigh mounted on top of the booster.
It had none of them. Why?
Because the private company has total disregard for safety. They based everything on a Chinese sci-fi comedy cartoon and tried to follow it to the letter.
The crashed booster narrowly missed a small village, a high speed rail line, and could have hit a nearby small city.
Proving that the Chinese do not steal everything.
Yes. Thanks for posting this.
It happened just recently too.
cast?
I learned the futility of cast tools & fasteners 50 years ago at a young age.
They were galvanized and inside the break they looked like pot metal. Got them at lowes.
I suppose it would be useless to ask if the test engine was salvageable?
Maybe if they paid for better help?
Frikking crazy.
“Maybe if they paid for better help?”
The estimated total pay range for a Mechanic at Boeing is $54K–$76K per year, which includes base salary and additional pay. In 2024, the minimum wage in Washington is $16.28 per hour which equates to just unhder $34K a year. So the mechanic is getting approximately 63% above the minimum to not do a good job. Unless you are a bnasketball player, that ain’t too bad.
