Despite this, Russia maintained its stance of supporting Palestinian rights and emphasized the need for a ceasefire and humanitarian aid in the conflict.
This diplomatic engagement aligns with Russia’s historical strategy of leveraging relationships in the Middle East to enhance its geopolitical influence, a practice dating back to the Soviet era. Putin’s current maneuvers aim to reassert Russia’s presence in the region, especially amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the shifting dynamics of international alliances.
