What evidence do you have for that conclusion?

I didn't mean to imply that you were incorrect. It may indeed be piggy-backing off Google.

I dislike Google, so I hope not, but you never know.;-)

This may be something you heard (connection between Perplexity and Google). I did not know this (now I do).

Aravind Srinivas [one of Perplexity's co-founders] had previously interned at DeepMind, Google, and OpenAI. He then assumed the role of a research scientist at OpenAI. Srinivas also holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Earlier this month, the company bagged USD 73.6 million (around Rs 600 crore) in funding from US chip maker Nvidia and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, among others.
