Eva Marie Saint won an Oscar for best supporting actress in her film debut "On the Waterfront (1954)". Her most famous role was perhaps as Eve Kendall, the sultry blonde double agent in the 1959 thriller, "North by Northwest". She was married to Jeffrey Hayden from 1951 in until his death in 2016. She retired in 2021.
Hubba, hubba......
Hubba, hubba......
Another mouse button point bounce.
Hay, it’s a M$ 1.1A optical thingy. It could be 20 yr old or better.
I know just what you mean. My mouse has bounced on me for a bunch of replies over the past few months. How irritating!
I love to get the same FR time stamp.
Imagine that, a woman sleeping with a man that she had just met on a train? Except... Well... We never did see them sleep together... Did we?
And also imagine... Movies where you needed an imagination to figure out what was going on.
She, Tippi Hedren, and Kim Novak are left handed.
The film is quite pertinent for watching at this moment of history, 77 years after the rebirth of the nation in Eretz Yisroel. (The number 7 is aa very holy number, and doubling it make it a time of great prophetic importance to all Jews, especially those who are also Christian,
Arabs still want to kill Jews, even more so than in 1947. They also want to kill evangelical Christ-believers, but they are noy making a big issue if it until they become dominant in a particular population.
This movie is still probably available, as it has been in the Delasware Library System.
And the only time Hitchcock used her.
Grace Kelly - 3 times
Ingrid Bergman - 3 times
Tippi Hedren - 2 times
Joan Fontaine - 2 times
Madeleine Carroll -2 times
Nova Pilbeam - 2 times
Saw her also in Fatal Vision, believe she played Karl Malden’s wife (and mother of the woman killed allegedly by her Green Beret physician husband).
She played Martha Kent, Superman’s mom, in 2006’s Superman Returns.
North by Northwest is a great movie, full of suspense and twists and very, very sexy, both Grant and Eva Marie Saint. I remember watching it as a pre-teen on TV and wondering why Grant made me all “tingly” in places I’d never tingled in before 😊.
Did they, or didn’t they? It was implied but never shown, but that ending, with the speeding train entering the tunnel? I wasn’t until many years later watching it as an adult that I got it.

Exactly... So subtle and so funny.
I didn’t see this film at the theatre, but I’m sure the audiences were laughing loudly when that train entered the tunnel.
There was another great movie about Israel made in 1966.
Cast included Kirk Douglas, John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, Angie Dickinson, Senta Berger, and Yul Bryner

Happy Birthday!!
I just turned 70- that means she won the Academy Award the year I was born. Wow. Happy birthday Eva Marie Saint. I think I’ll have to watch North by Northwest tonight….
