>> Choosing the right breed for you

Oh, of course. Because EVERYTHING is all about YOU! Nothing holds a candle to YOU. And all of YOUR neuroses and preferences and “conditions” and etc.

damned narcissistic society

Most Shih Tzus I have seen up close always appear to be wet and runny in the face. Maybe it’s just the color and texture of that muzzle fur. Runny around the eyes too, for the adults. They remain popular, so, maybe that ‘Wet & Sneezy’ look doesn’t bother most owners.

My German Shepherd as no good for emotional support. He was aloof. Not lovey dovey or cuddly at all.

He was still a good companion and showed a strong bond, but once “hi” was over, he just wanted to work and be busy. Not a good breed for a living stuffed animal to hug, which is what people want in a “support dog”.

Lhaso Apso’s are probably one of the greatest family type dogs you could have. Especially if you are of an age where you don’t do much exercising. They never tire of your company and they love just lying by your side as you watch tv or play on your computer.

They can be with you 24/7 and still want to be with you more.
But they are a bit dim in the intelligence department.

At least mine was.

They have a natural instinct to comfort and connect with everyone around them.

They think the dog is connecting and comforting them, but in reality the dog is buttering them up for another treat.

If you are mismatched with your dog, you won’t be happy with it as much and it won’t be happy with you.

It’s often the reason why dogs end up with the pound. They were not a good match for the lifestyle of the owner.

My dogs prefer to get emotional support.

Some of us humans would like a neck rub too.

Somewhere, I suspect there are people who feel qualified to be Matchmakers between Pet & Master. A Dog Whisperer who also listens to people for key traits.
Or perhaps they study the horoscopes of both Pet & Master.
They probably charge a hefty fee for all their skills.
I don’t know if most dogs can have their Palms read.

On the other hand, if you are mismatched with your cat, then you are completely normal. :-)

You don’t say! I always suspected it was just that simple. ROFL!

I’m holding out for a dog that can read Psalms.

After this current Husky/Chesapeake/Pitbull/Lab/otherstuff I’d go with a another non-pedigreed American Lab.

I will never own a dog that would remind me of John Bolton. ;-)

We have two Cavaliers, sweet, charming, little love sponges. Best breed ever for a smaller dog. We had a Golden who died, he was a great dog too.

I guess loyalty isn’t a “support” factor.

Goldens and labs are the great but they are terrible watch dogs.

Vizslas are as friendly and loyal as Goldens and Labs but they are great guard dogs
