RE: Jill’s boot and crutch -

Shouldn’t the crutch be used on the other side - the side with the boot?

Call me weird, but that’s how I would do it.

Yes. I had to use a single crutch for a while and it was on the side of the injury.

The leg your favoring needs the support of the crutch. So it’s weird. Read that she broke her leg walking the beach in Hawaii.

crutch and boot confusion? As chance would have it I recently asked one of the family ER nurses about that exact thing. Long time nurse who has seen about all of it. She explained there is no predicting how people will try to use one crutch-—sometimes same side, sometimes opposite side. Jill might be pivoting off the good leg and swinging the boot.——She’s a dokter, you know?

After hip replacement surgeries, and using a cane, the cane is on the side opposite the bad leg.

E.g., left hip, cane in right hand. It’s a smooth, even gait. Using it on the same side results in maximum jerkiness.
