A rocket stage test firing by Chinese commercial company Space Pioneer ended in catastrophic failure and a dramatic explosion Sunday.
Space Pioneer conducted what was intended to be a static-fire test of the first stage of its Tianlong-3 launch vehicle at a test facility in Gongyi country, Henan province, Sunday, June 30.
Amateur footage captured by Gongyi citizens and posted on Chinese social media shows the nine-engine test stage igntiing and then, exceptionally, taking off. Hold-down clamps and other structures are typically used to securely keep stages in place.
The stage is seen climbing into the sky before halting, apparently with its engines shutting off, and returning to Earth. The stage impacted the ground around 50 seconds after it took off, apparently with much of its kerosene-liquid oxygen propellant remaining, causing a large explosion.

The guy in charge was named, Ho Lee Sheet.
oops
If this happened to Elon Musk, all SpaceX launches would be postponed until 2030, and his assets would be sold off at fire sale prices.

Kerosene and liquid oxygen, nine engines, sounds familiar...

Headline: American Starliner stuck in space.
Chineae test stand achieves new altitude record !!!
China is way, way ahead of the United States and indeed every other country with respect to altitude attained with rocket test stands. America is falling behind!!
That was quite the explosion.
Slow uke front news day? /s
Thanks for the early 4th of July firework show.
The people who filmed the second video were laughing and joking, as far as to make a “Boom” sound.
Has China progressed enough so these lads can laugh at the failure of the state and post it on the web ?
“Just like all the crap they sell on Amazon.”
Was that the cheap crap they just used to bring rocks back from the far side of the moon? How many countries in the world make crap cheap enough to do that?
Static fire without hold down bolts transitions into maiden flight. What could possibly go wrong?
What could go wong did go wong. The question now is, did the family of the soon to be deceased have to pay for the bullet.
I am wondering if the calculation of hold down tensile strength accounted for the fact that the rocket motor loses weight as it burns off fuel, but does not lose thrust. So if the net lifting force is 230 tons initially, it is reduced by one ton for every ton of fuel burned off.
Marked.
Well, actually, it “should have” “blown up real good.” But they failed doing that.
The (not ready for launch) range safety officer FAILED to destroy it in midair above the test station too.
Instead it fell (fully fueled) all the way back on top the Chinese test site building.
Good post.
And this is a separate incident that happened a few weeks before this one.
