2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook: A look ahead to a potentially active season

WASHINGTON - The 2024 Atlantic Hurricane season is officially in full swing and our FOX 5 weather team is forecasting a potentially active season. The Atlantic hurricane season began on June 1 and runs through Nov. 30.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season is expected to be above normal, with 14-22 named storms, including 7-10 hurricanes. This is higher than the average of 12-14 named storms per year.

Don't Play This Game If You Under 40 RAID | Sponsored The reason for this increased activity is due to several factors, including a warmer-than-average Atlantic Ocean and a more active West African monsoon season.

The warmer ocean temperatures will provide a source of energy for tropical cyclones to develop and intensify, while the increased activity in West Africa will lead to more frequent and intense tropical waves entering the Atlantic.

Hide the dog and mask up and hide under the bed. BTW, I notice in the weather forecasts on tv in my area they say. "potential for severe weather" "maybe" "be weather aware" "call your friends and family and tell them to be weather aware" They say this stuff when thunderstorms are predicted.

Speaking as a native of the state of Florida, I can affirm ALL hurricane seasons are “active”.

If the government agency gets it wrong do we get to fire all their senior staff?

They neglected to note that there is in progress a strong westerly Sahara dust flow across the Atlantic, hot dry dusty air which tends to suck moisture out of the prevailing winds, thus likely to suppress hurricane formation at least in the South Atlantic. This is not uncommon this time of year, Fox should be aware of it . But I guess it just doesnโ€™t fit the narrative.

Isn’t there a vax for that? So, 100 named storms? Hope no wind panels or solar turbines are damaged beyond repair. That would be a shame.

Wouldn’t that also mean ‘potentially inactive’?

They certainly do. Next they’ll be sounding the alarms for winter when they figure out it’s going to get cold. They can tell us how many people are “at risk!” Every time a thunderstorm spins up the MSM says something like, “30 million at risk.”

The leftists are hoping, wishing and praying for destructive and deadly hurricanes to wreak havoc, so they can push their climate change agenda.

The potential for forecasters to correctly forecast the weather is zero percent on a yearly basis. Even with all the tech available to them, forecasting the future isn’t possible.

Their business is to sell advertising time. If they say “all is well”, everyone tunes out. It’s a rather intercoursed-up thing we deal with.

Joe Bastardi & Weatherbell.com made that forecast late last winter.

We’re one full month into hurricane season with 1 named storm, iirc, in NE Mexico/S.Texas.

Not a very auspicious beginning to an overly active season.

I think that Weatherbell’s Joe Bastardi said there would be a slow start to this year’s season.
