Covid-19 Surpasses 1918 Flu to Become Deadliest Pandemic in American History

The coronavirus pandemic has become the deadliest disease outbreak in recent American history with tolls surpassing the estimated deaths of the 1918 flu. According to data from Johns Hopkins University, 681,253 individuals in the United States have died from Covid-19 infections, while over a century ago, the country lost an estimated 675,000 people during the 1918 influenza pandemic, reports Holly Yan for CNN.

Maybe the same in 1918, but the per capita death rate was three times worse. My grandmother died in it, leaving my grandfather with five children, the two youngest had to go into foster care to stay alive.

My Mom was one of them, later adopted by her loving, pious foster parents, who loved me and I them. But I knew my real grandfather, who never forgot me, either.

Sure, if you include car accidents, murders, suicides, falls where someone could have had Covid from a worthless PCR test...of course why would you test for Covid after someone wrapped themselves around a tree with their motorcycle.

It's sort of an apples and oranges issue. Figures for 1916-1919 are vague because the pandemic coincided with the last part of WWI. (It's also a reason WWI death figures are at best estimates). It's hard to do autopsies on bodies blown to bits by artillery.

With respect to CoVid, the figures are skewed by the fact that the government actually provided an incentive in the form of emergency funding to declare deaths as being due to CoVid whether it was proven or not. Additionally, anyone who has tried as I have to procure reliable figures from China learns pretty quickly that only the earliest ones (if at all) are untainted by politics. Or, for that matter, even available.

In fact, an apples to apples comparison only reveals that figures in both cases are suspect and often only estimates. No raw data, no science. I wish it were otherwise.

Amazingly, the flu ceased to exist during Covid.

Note how all of the “top” disasters in US by death toll— are “fatalities estimated”. This is pure falsehood- a fatality is a number certain— a number of people proven dead by the causality of the disaster so called.
