"SHOW PONY". Yep, one of those who considers not getting Starbucks for 6 months " combat duty". He rode a desk, never went on patrol under fire.

Some geek saw his deployment to Afghanistan and automatically checked the medals box. Army found the mistake. And now he won't stop wearing the medal...

Al bundy had more to be proud of with 6 touchdowns in one high school football game! Way more to be proud of!.

If he's still wearing it after receiving the DD215 in 2023 he's wrong.

This happened a lot more than you'd think in Reserve units. It came from confusion caused by Civil Affairs (along with PSYOP) being considered a "Special Operations Unit". I notice his service came at about the time the Combat Action Badge was created.

He should have changed the CIB for the CAB he was authorized the day he received his DD 215

That said - If he does so now (or just stops wearing the CIB) I wouldn't drum him out of congress. He may be an asshole - but we need the vote.

And while they’re at it, how about taking Milley’s CIB. I’m sure that he didn’t deserve the next to the highest medal given for actual combat involvement. Plus he’s a traitor to President Trump and America for actions on Jan. 6.

Doesn’t a CIB mean you’ve been shot at and shot back? I was USN, so I’m not up to speed on Army awards.

You have to have a 11b or 11c Infantry mos or 18 S/F mos to receive a CIB from what I remember

Instead, Nehls was awarded the Combat Action Badge, which is given to soldiers outside those job fields who are “actively engaging or being engaged by the enemy,” according to Army guidelines.

The article doesn’t dispute him being in combat, just that upon review for some reason he was awarded the wrong award.
Once again, not his mistake. The CIB is a big deal. When Charles Schultz was being interviewed in his studio, and when asked what was his most prestigious award, His Emmy or His print cartoon awards, He pointed to his smallest award on the wall, His CIB.

yes it does seem confusing. IMO, if he’s assigned to a combat unit, whatever the role, the badge may be appropriate because most of the unit roles all boil down to the potential to pick up a rifle when needed. There was a place called Bastogne, and cooks, mechanics and anybody who could walk were at the point where they had to pick them up.
