Yes they do! They may not for the majority of people. I certainly don’t vote much based on VP, but I know quite a few people who who do- many women & minorities. It’s human nature to long to see yourself reflected fairly regularly in candidates for elections. Ignore it at our peril. I keep wondering when the majority of middle aged, White, male, Christian voters in the Republican Party are going to finally start to understand that.
If we were winning even 20-25% of the black vote, Democrats wouldn’t have a shot at winning. Republicans would no longer suffer from a potentially narrow path to victory. The reason Trump is up in the polls currently isn’t just because of eager white males- it’s because he’s polling good with minorities, females & the young. He needs to be smart & lean into it! 😉
