I like your word “fisking” — it’s new to me and I had to look it up.
Turns out, apparently, “fisking” is what I’ve been doing here all these years.

So, in that spirit, I’ll go to work on Red6’s latest stinking pile of horse manure.

FISKING | definition in the Cambridge English Dictionary
the act of making an argument seem wrong or stupid by showing the mistakes in each of its points, or an instance of doing this:.

PIF: "FISKING | definition in the Cambridge English Dictionary the act of making an argument seem wrong or stupid by showing the mistakes in each of its points, or an instance of doing this:."

It's a great new word, I think:

  1. "Following these traits should help the person doing the fisking to stay focused and avoid trailing off into merely denouncing the article in question.

  2. "A really stylish fisking is witty, logical, sarcastic and ruthlessly factual; flaming or handwaving is considered poor form.

  3. "A fisking is characteristically an incisive and fierce point-by-point rebuttal, and the aim is generally to weaken the target's credibility rather than seek common ground.

  4. "Fisking is different from flaming, with which it is sometimes confused.

  5. "Fisking should always be primarily factual, though it need not necessarily be polite.

  6. "Fisking is meant to be a meaningful contribution to a debate, regardless of the veracity of either side's claims."
"Fisking derived from the name of journalist Robert Fisk. The term originated from the blogging community and was coined by right-wing bloggers in reference to Robert Fisk, whose articles were often subject to detailed, point-by-point rebuttals.

The act of “fisking” involves a detailed critique of an article, blog post, or similar work, where each point is refuted or debunked individually.
It’s a form of argumentative response that has gained popularity in online discussions and debates."

Though I never saw this word "fisking" before, it does pretty well describe what I've tried to do here all these past ~20 years.
