(Vanity) Are you guys really okay with Bob Good losing? Trump endorsement related
Me

Posted on 06/19/2024 7:01:22 AM PDT by ksm1

I've been on FR since the Bush years, first as a lurker and then more active during Obama and the initial Tea Party movement. Throughout that time, there always has been active and for the most part respectful debate on FR, that sometimes got a bit heated but we all basically wanted the same thing for the country, even if it meant different ways to get there.

With the Trump years, I was skeptical of Trump at first in 2016 since he was an unknown, but then he won me over when he was actually President. You can find my posts from his years in office where I defended him. That said - there was enough left on the table, like a number of bad hires who kept undermining him, that I wanted to see a competitive primary and a candid discussion on both his record and what would be different this time around if he gets the nod.

Well that's when things got weird. We never had that discussion. It just became a yelling match, and if I wanted to do that, I'd just go join those Palestine weirdos on college campuses. No thanks.

Guys, Bob Good had an excellent 100% conservative voting record. Trump primaried him for his one and only crime which was endorsing DeSantis, even though after the primary, Bob Good came to visit Trump during his trial in NYC.

This isn't giving me any confidence that Trump has learned from his mistakes of bad hires and bad endorsements. We should have completely dominated the 2022 midterms but a number of bad endorsements sabotaged us. Dr. Oz? Seriously? Yes Arizona had some shady things with their election, but there were a bunch of other cases where Trump endorsed a weak candidate - OR, he's been backing people who DO win and then vote RINO when it counts. We can't keep saying "we want better people in Congress" and then let things like this slide.

Why I care: the grassroots activist right has always played an important role. I saw during the Bush years on FR that we'd organize campaigns to write letters to Congress to push for our values. Same during the Obama years, which is how we prevented Obama from doing a lot of gun grabbing and so forth. There was minimal of that during the Trump years. It was just "trust the plan". This isn't helpful. Politics was meant to be an active process that citizens participate in. During the Trump years, it seemed to turn into just a spectator sport. That's not how this is supposed to work.

Is this really what we want, no real political power because we actively are pushing RINOs into office to replace conservatives, but at least we "own the libs" with snarky internet remarks? Is this really the best we can do? And look, I know the left is unfairly attacking Trump, but Trump or ANY Republican needs to get pressured from the right as well, so he actually does what we want. I know the left is going to attack Trump, or anyone to the right of Rachel Maddow for that matter, but it's really getting frustrated that any pressure for accountability *from the right* is dismissed or actively trolled.

Bob Good shouldn't have even been in a competitive race. He was as solid as they get. This is getting ridiculous.

Pres trump’s actual record is growi8ng the economy after numerous years of previous growth.

That is a very difficult feat to accomplish.

Every year of economic growth brings about greater probability of the next recession.

Growing an economy off the bottom is easy.

The current administration is the most anti business admin in US history anyone following it is just about free rolling. Which is not much different than 2016.

drill. drill, drill and $50/bbl oil will end all war on earth and instantly improve the economy.

I understand the confusion though as it’s not like Pres Trump wasn’t already POTUS and created a good economy off the second most anti business admin in US history once already.

The day he announced, DeSantis announced Ukraine wasn’t in the national interest. A week later he backtracked. I want someone who will keep us out of everybody’s else’s war unless it is in our national interests. We helped overthrow the Ukraine government in 2014. We should not have. Trump is the only one against the war.

I'm not agreeing with much in your list.

He doesn't work with Congress? If anything he works too nicely with Congress. I could give you numerous examples.

Profoundly ignorant of US and international history, science, culture, law, everything else? I disagree. I could give you numerous examples.

He doesn't want to make allies? Seriously?

He being the most investigated is not the fault of Biden's DOJ and other assorted Democrats and RINO's? Seriously?

My examples of Trump's good character stands. Most investigated politician with no real corruption found. Most pricipled in America first.

Trump has made the decision to risk incarceration to defeat the global establishment and save the country.

Trump doesn't drink, doesn't take drugs, doesn't smoke and work long long hours every day.

Everybody is flawed. As I said, I wouldn't describe Trump as "very" flawed.

Well, Trump could have picked MANY House Republicans more deserving of eviction from Congress rather than Good. If Good loses I’ll be disappointed as he has been a righteous American Patriot in Congress. In any case, I hope whoever prevails in the primary goes on to win in November.

Actually, Bob Good did not “Primary” Riggleman. It was a “Fix is in” Drive-through Convention that made Bob Good the nominee for the 5th Congressional District. You cannot “Primary” someone when there was no primary.

The cult?

You meant the RDS cult right?

It's not untrue at all, RDS has done nothing about the J6 crap. Nothing. Only RDS cult members believe he did. Like you. And no, nobody forgot to tell me that. It's simply true. He has been virtually silent about it, while so many innocent Floridians have lost their lives. Some leader.

And btw, He almost lost to a gay drug user who had nothing to offer. And he was losing in the polls until Trump backed him.

Florida was turning red before RDS, and will stay so in spite of his pretense that he was the one responsible.

Hell, he left for the better part of a year, and thankfully he finally came back and became governor again. Instead of pretending he was going to be President, he could have been doing something about Florida's huge insurance issue, and the other things he ignored for all that time. My home is in Florida, it pains me to tell you how many Floridians have seen through him and no longer trust him.

Your explanation about the binary choice of Trump or Biden is perfect leftist drivel. Pretending you're the pure one is just so condescending and sickeningly arrogant.

But I guess you've become good at that.

There is no “RDS cult.” I was talking about Cult 45.

It is untrue. He’s spoken out. Again, he has no power or get them out or reduce their penalty. Do you understand the difference between a Federal rap and a state rap? Or do you just not care?

He has no power to do any more. He said he would look at them if elected. What would you have him do?

In Congress, he was one of President Trump’s fiercest defenders.

He beat Gillum in spite of Trump’s endorsement, not because of it. At the time, Florida was a very purple state. In case you haven’t noticed, Trump’s endorsement doesn’t help in purple states.

He took that one-point victory and turned it into a 20-point victory four years later. He turned Florida from a purple state leaning a little red to a deep red state with his excellent policies. When Governor DeSantis took office, the Democrats had a registration edge. Today, the Republicans have a significant registration edge.

Again, Florida was a purple state that leaned a little red.

He’s fought for our principles and values successfully over and over. He’s beaten the rainbow lobby’s attempts to sexualize the kids, beat woke Disney, cut spending, runs a surplus, has enacted the most secure voting law in America, got a 6-week abortion ban through (which Trump attacked as “horrible”), and has fought successfully for many other conservative priorities.

On the binary choice, my logic is impeccable.

DeSantis wants America to run like Florida is running, which is prosperous and free. You seem to have a problem with that.

He was the challenger who beat an incumbent. A RINO incumbent. Riggleman is pretty useless.

Florida has the best election security law in America. DeSantis pointed that out more than once. He has also talked about the mass censorship. Unlike the rest, who just talk, he has fought Big Tech.

Trump was POd at Good because of his ego being bruised by Good’s endorsement of DeSantis.

He was annoyed because Good voted to oust McCarthy.

Good also had issues with MTG, who is an inner circle Trumper (and reportedly McCarthy’s girlfriend.)

Besides, he endorsed the RINO over the conservative in EVERY Virginia race. He’s listening to the wrong people.

If it had been any politician other than Trump who did this, EVERY poster here would be attacking him for it. But because it’s Trump, you can’t say one bad word about it, according to the Trumpkins.

No principles.

Don’t you think you should let the voters of the states decide who they want to represent them in congress?... It seems to me they decided against Bob Good. Oh well, but I’m fine with that.

Tax cuts; energy independence; criminal reform; VA right to try (I think that is what is called); border wall; fair trade with Chyna.
More than one I know, but I’m sure you will find a way to shrug them off as something else.
