Why is NATO expanding its nuclear force?
Asia Times ^ | 6/18/24 | Steven Bryen

Jens Stoltenberg, the 13th secretary general of NATO, says that the alliance is in talks to deploy more nuclear weapons and modernize their delivery systems. Stoltenberg told the Telegraph in the UK: “I won’t go into operational details about how many nuclear warheads should be operational and which should be stored, but we need to consult on these issues. That’s exactly what we’re doing.” Stoltenberg emphasized that NATO is a “nuclear alliance.”

He explained: “NATO’s aim is, of course, a world without nuclear weapons. But as long as nuclear weapons exist we will remain a nuclear alliance, because a world where Russia, China and North Korea have nuclear weapons and NATO does not is a more dangerous world.”

"Suddenly 28 months ago a lot of freepers became weak on defense liberals."

We don't see the need to fight a war 5000 miles away overseas when the Biden Regime has committed a coup is actively attacking and imprisoning American patriots right here at home.

Ukraine is not part of NATO, we are not obliged to defend them. In fact, we want it for ourselves. Hell, the US and its allies cannot beat Afghanistan, Iraq or Iran. It just never ends.

When every Russian diplomatic presser or announcement is dismissed before the ink is dry, without consideration an called a bluff it becomes clear men like Sullivan, Blinken, Lloyd Austin, Biden/Obama are unserious and corrupt people.

Blinken started the war by telling Lavrov the US was deploying nuckear capable missiles in Ukraine, a NATO friendly country, and Russia could pound sand. That meeting resulted in the Russian Special Operation within 72 hours.

Read those posts again, Ukraine isn’t in them, our military alliance maintaining its military readiness is and NATO not doing so has been a widely mentioned shortcoming here, until they started fixing the problems that is.

"If NATO hadn’t started the war by engineering the overthrow of the legitimately elected government and putting a NATO stooge in charge in 2014,"

Russian supporters keep making this claim, and never back it up with real evidence. Russia released an intercepted phone call of Victoria Nuland in 2014. After Russia invaded Ukraine, this is the only "evidence", really a convenient excuse, to claim a US/CIA backed coup.

To everyone else, Russia tried to buy off the Ukrainian government and failed. Which explains why Viktor Yanukovych looted the Ukrainian treasury and fled to Russia. It also explains why the medals for annexing Crimea were made before the Maidan revolution.

But why let facts get in the way of useful accusations? < /s >

I read your comments and my response was entirely appropriate. America lied to Russia and NATO kept marching east and the Ukraine joining NATO was a bridge to far for Russia.

I would say that you would lose your mind if Russia was turning Mexico into a client state but I don't think that you are an American.

Look at the maps of NATO moving eastaover time and try to make that claim....

If I remember correctly, there are only 3 NATO countries that have produced nuclear weapons: Great Britain, Franc and the USA. No other NATO country has nukes of their own production. During the Cold War, there were US nukes in several of the countries, but those were under the strict control of the US Army/Air Force. I might be wrong, but all of the Army nukes for 8 inch and 155mm artillery were withdrawn after about 1990 and have been destroyed. I’m guessing the same has happened to other US Army nukes for missile systems that have been discarded, such as the old Honest John. (marking my age with this one)

No one forced those countries to join NATO. Russia was the reason why those countries wanted to join NATO. NATO members are free to leave if they choose, such as when France left NATO in 1966.

Russian territorial expansion is by invasion or coercion, not voluntary democratic process. Chechnya and Georgia are not free to leave. IF Putin has his way, neither will Ukraine.

To the nations on the receiving end of Putin's December 2021 ultimatum, he made it clear wants the USSR back.

And that phone call was a discussion about how to preserve Yanukovich in office! Not planning to oust him. But the Russian lie got halfway around the world before the truth got its' boots on, and here we are.

I’m surprised Muscle Shoals and Mobile aren’t targets here in Alabama. They have always been regarded as potential targets.

Anyway, I’m screwed because I’m in the “die slowly and painfully” fallout area.

I feel so much better hearing that. It’s a real comfort knowing that after my family and everyone I know has been killed in the Donbas World War that most Russians will also be killed.

I am certain that a lot of the Eastern European countries were jonesing to march east with NATO for the spoils but that doesn't seem to be working out well. The front marches west.
