Just got an emergency message on my phone, around 2:22. Early message at 1:56 PM from MIT/LL that 911 was down for the local area.
It’s made the news.
Just wrap yourself in bubble wrap, shimmy under your bed and don’t move. You’ll be fine until this passes. ;)
As always: Mother Government is NOT your friend in any way, shape or form. Plan your life accordingly.
When Toucher and Rich had their morning radio show on The Sports Hub they used to do a segment called “Brookline 911”. With actual 911 calls to the Brookline, MA police department.
It was amazing the stupid things would call in to complain about.
The Country Club of Brookline, MA is where the US Open was a couple years ago. Tom Brady lived adjacent to the course. It is a very wealthy suburb of Boston.
That would be very handy should there be a terror attack.
For the terrorists.
I wonder if these sorts of outages are dry runs.
Where in NH?
Do you have some connection to MA that would explain that? MA-carrier plan, recently moved MA to NH, MA working in NH, etc?
We got the same alert in Maine. Then we got another one that said, “Ignore that message, Maine 911 works just fine.”
I got the same message. When seconds count, figure out what town you are in, figure out the local police department, Google their phone number
Could the heat wave be impacting their 911 as well as other stuff in the 4 state area under a heat watch?
Help! I’ve ate all this sh t and need my stomach pumped!
911....what is your emergency?
I’d like to report a 911 system failure in the great commonwealth of Massachusetts!
I just loaded the town fire and police into my phone. I probably should have the Mass State Police. I know when you dial 911 on a mobile they give you a state police dispatcher, who insists on getting your name and address before listening to your emergency.
911 SERVICE RESTORED 4:18
EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY - DO NOT PLACE TEST CALLS
I don't know how 911 is handled (I presume it's “on top of” the voice system), but the April outage in 4 states was caused by ONE cable being accidentally cut!
Celtics fans out of beer calling for resupply are overloading the system.
Statewide??
Now how are they able to send out the message?
My internet is fine. My phone is fine. It was only 911 service interrupted for about three hours. I got an alert from MIT/LL at 1:56, and about 30 minutes an alert on the phone. (Three times, for different jurisdictions.)
My phone was going crazy for a few hours
Same here outside of Boston
