The book is Time on the Cross: The Economics of American Slavery by Robert William Fogel, Stanley L. Engerman. In hardback, $24.47. In paperback, $14.75 - $17.33.

This was my textbook in Economic History class in 1977. That said, it is a very easy read for non-economists.

The book I want to see is: “The Economics of African and Middle Eastern Slavery in the 20th and 21st century.”
