At our old house we bought a new central AC after the one that came with the home gave up the ghost. It was a Sears Kenmore and had lasted well over 20 years, so we bought a new Sears Kenmore to replace it.
It came with a ten year warranty on the compressor. We babied that thing and washed it and cleaned it every year, covered it up in winter and it was placed in a shaded area so it would stay cool. It died just over ten years old. But it looked brand new!..............
One of ours went after 15 years, guy said they last 15-20, the other still works. We replaced the one with a Trane, we'll see.
Of course, we run ours in NYS for about 4 months a year. Not like FL.
