Back when Tony Snow, Mark Levin, Barbara Olson, etc., were on FR it was more cerebral and less childish.

But I think that's the direction of the Republican Party, or at least the grassroots.

Even today, the Republican Party is unable to reach consensus on some issues, especially on the Russo-Ukrainian War.
