Crabby people are free to lob insults from a blind, with an assurance of anonymity and no unpleasant consequences.
That’s the nature of the internet, its forums and message boards. If it’s a problem, it shouldn’t be. Nobody is obligated to click on.
I’ve been following a few sites since I was around seven years old (initially with parental supervision). They’re all like this. People are not nicer than they have to be. Same goes for real life.
I’m here for the news and the selection of topics found in General/Chat. You never know what you might learn and I love to learn. It’s best to keep posting at a minimum.
That said, what offends me is less the rudeness and profanity, and more the stoic acceptance of the status quo in America today. Folks post about how things “need” to happen, things “shouldn’t” happen, so-and-so ought to be prosecuted, etc. Echo chambers don’t affect anything.
Trump has been railroaded.
Ashli Babbitt is dead.
A frail old pro-life activist is going to prison for two years.
Terri Schiavo was murdered in broad daylight, lawfully.
Babies are being slaughtered every day.
Christians, too.
Human trafficking.
2020 election.
Covid, and whatever’s next from China.
America overrun by invaders.
Fretting over incivility on a message board is not the best use of anyone’s energy.
My apologies to those who physically can’t step outside to protest and resist, the consequences be damned.

We can’t solve every problem, but maybe we can start with civility on FR.
