Caitlin Clark was, as she usually is whenever she steps on the court, the story of the night - and with no on-court altercations or extra-curricular activity, the Iowa native just let it fly all evening long.
The No. 1 overall pick from this year's WNBA draft dropped 30 points in a 85-83 victory over the Washington Mystics on Friday night in Commissioner's Cup action.
Clark also had eight rebounds and six assists along with eight costly turnovers - double the next closest player - that kept the game close.
She iced the game late - hitting three out of four free throws in the final eleven seconds to keep the Mystics at bay and capping off a night where she went 8-15 from the field and 7-13 from beyond the arc.
Those seven triples tied a rookie record held concurrently with Crystal Robinson, formerly of the New York Liberty.

—> However, some have suggested that lowering the rim to 9 feet could help the WNBA gain mainstream popularity and increase revenue.
I’ll watch when a middle school boys travel team is matched against them.
Other than that, it is a league of lesbians with attitudes, with one fresh-faced straight, talented white woman.
The level of talent isn’t remotely close to the NBA.
nope...
I don’t know how the TV contracts are tied together, but if no one is watching and the TV companies are required to broadcast WNBA games in order to broadcast NBA games, then they will pay the NBA less for the total package than they would otherwise. This because they have to pay broadcast personnel to be at the money losing WNBA games and need that money-losing requirement covered in the total package.
So that is how it becomes failure.
They’re not tied together. But they are both NBA products, so the NBA can arrange it however it would like.
And if the WNBA increases basketball interest among women, then the NBA may in part reap the benefits through NBA viewership and marketing agreements.
You don’t read much about sports, do you. “Dropped” in basketball means “scored”. Its not ebonics. Its just the language of the sport.
She sold out a 20,000 person arena
I may have missed it in that piece but they had a sold out crowed of over 20K. I never used to watch WNBA now I watch to see a White shooter that is religious and has a boyfriend.
SHE IS NOT ON THE USA OLYMPIC TEAM.
TALK TO US AGAIN WHEN YOU ARE 60.
THEY NEVER LOOT WORK BOOTS-———
MASSIVE STUPID
A sold-out crowd of 20,333 people are in attendance for Fever-Mystics tonight.
Washington moved the game to Capital One Arena due to high demand.

Some of Caitlin Clark’s turnovers are because her teammates weren’t alert enough to catch her attempted assist passes. Can’t blame Caitlin for those “turnovers”.
The two best players in the NBA are white Europeans. The Europeans grew up focused on fundamentals during their practices and played maybe 1-3 games per week.
In club/AAU teams they hardly ever practice and play 7-8 games on a weekend. It’s all one-on-one, with rare exceptions.
This guy is consistently annoying, but spot on here:
Mens volleyball is a really big deal in Europe with many countries having very athletic players around 6’10”; much more athletic than most big men in the NBA.
No doubt, she’s big news presently. I’m thinking the novelty will wear off, as soon as all the new faces realize they’re paying pro dollars to watch poor basketball.
Tennis, skating, gymnastics, volleyball, golf. These are all non contact sports. Women don’t look attractive pushing each other around.
If they’re out there to look attractive, they’ll be cheerleaders.
Beach burqa volleyball is my favorite!
