This spring was the most active severe weather season since 2011 with more than 1,000 twisters reported across the country. However, a change is on the horizon that will transform the severe weather dangers heading into the dog days of summer.
"[We're] going to see disturbances coming down from the northern Rockies and through the northern Plains and into the Midwest," AccuWeather Long Range Expert Joe Lundberg said. "We think this is the most likely area to get thunderstorms."
This corridor of storms will threaten Chicago, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Minneapolis and Cincinnati. Some of the damaging thunderstorms may even blow through the mid-Atlantic.

Some years are bad, some are not.
The past few storm seasons have been relatively quiet. This one isn’t. It’s just weather.
In other words, there is going to be weather in the next month. Situation normal.
It happened before? I'm stunned. We've been told this was the worst weather ever!!!
The dog days of summer are typically considered to be the 20 days before and after the star Sirius rises and sets with the sun, which is from July 3 to August 11. The term comes from the Latin dies caniculares, which translates to “days of the dog star”. The ancient Romans believed that Sirius, also known as the “Dog Star” because it’s the brightest star in Canis Major (Large Dog), added heat to the sun and made for hotter summers. However, the actual cause of the dog days of summer’s heat is the tilt of the Earth.
Next thing you know, he'll say that San Francisco will experience "some foggy days," or that it will be "humid in Atlanta" for much of July!
More evidence of Global Warming, folks!

Due to SUVs or gas stoves?
Oh, the Humanity!
Regards,
According to the daily weather channel, it’s supposed to have rained everyday this week. My petunias have been on the porch because they don’t like getting rained on. We got sprinkles. It’s been cloudy, but no rain. They cannot give us a decent current weather Forcast and yet they can forcast months, years into the future?
El Nino is back. It’s all part of a weather cycle that is irrelevant to perceived climate change.
I quit watching them because of their incessant hyperventilating over EVERYTHING
They can’t predict the weather weeks and months ahead. Aunt Tilly’s achy knees are a more accurate predictor than the weather service.
On the one hand the number of tornadoes this season was impressive; on the other hand, the last EF5 tornado anywhere in the world was in 2013. (Prior to that there were something like 50 in 75 or so years.) In other words, it’s just weather being weather.
A little over 2 years ago, 10 - 13 per cent additional water vapor was injected into the stratosphere. Now you know the rest of the story!!
“The Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai (HTHH) volcanic eruption (20.54° S, 175.38° W) on 15 January 2022 produced a shock wave felt around the world and released more water vapor into the stratosphere than any other volcano on record. The powerful eruption sent aerosols, gases, and water in both vapor and condensed phases into the stratosphere with some material reaching over 56 km high into the lower mesosphere, altitudes never before reached from a volcanic eruption in the satellite era. Observations from the Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) aboard the NASA Aura satellite immediately following the eruption indicated that this single event increased water vapor in Earth’s normally dry stratosphere by approximately 10%. The ESA estimates approximately 13%. As a consequence of the HTHH eruption, water vapor levels in the stratosphere will likely stay elevated for years, potentially changing surface temperatures and impacting stratospheric circulation and chemistry.”
I noticed over sixty years ago, in our area, that till late May and early June there will be big storms come through. Then it will turn dry for much of the rest of the summer till September.
Also, if the jet stream form an omega pattern and you are inside the loop, sell your cattle, and get ready for a long hot dry summer.
