Stephen A. Smith got heated when discussing the Caitlin Clark situation in the WNBA on "First Take" on Monday morning.
The prominent ESPN host said that WNBA players, who like the NBA are mostly Black, are likely jealous of Clark, who is white, and all of the attention she has been getting.
"There are girls – young ladies – in the WNBA who are jealous of Caitlin Clark. She is a White girl that has come into the league," Smith said.
"She has bursted onto the scene. She hasn’t proven herself yet. It’s not even about them thinking they’re better than her because they probably know it at this particular juncture because they’ve been playing on a level she just arrived to.
"One would think that folks would be smart enough to recognize and appreciate that about Caitlin Clark – piggyback off of that to their benefit and praise her and support her for it while competing on the court against her."
Clark, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, was pushed to the floor by Sky guard Chennedy Carter on Saturday. Carter later took shots at Clark, saying she doesn't do much besides shoot 3-pointers.
While it would be unfair to paint all WNBA players with a broad brush, it's certainly fair to think that at least some of them are jealous of the attention Clark has been receiving.

After all, after all the noise that has come from the last few months because of the scoring record and her first year in the pro league, how many people on the street can name 3 WNBA players? Or 3 WNBA teams?
Most Americans can name Brittney Griner. And Caitlin Clark plus Angel Reese because of that LSU vs Iowa game. So that's 3 right there. Before 2022, 0.
And nobody would know Reese if she just won and didn’t taunt Clark AFTER the game. Reese is a clout chaser hanging on to Clark. Without Clark...she’s just another big black loud mouth athlete who can’t string two sentences together. Reese by herself can’t draw flies to excrement

Good grief!!! A single mother - 20 years old — I WONDER WHY! What a creature. I only watched the first clip - that’s all I could stand. I had a doctor appointment today and my BP was fine - but it isn’t after watching that! That was unbelievable and I don’t think I’ll thank you for the link. I can’t believe how many officers it took toward the end to corral her. Foul mouth! They should have washed her mouth out with soap....They really needed a straitjacket for her. I have read numerous times that golf was a dying game of farty old men wearing Sans-A-Belt slacks until Tiger Woods came along. How much was HE worth to the game, or to other golfers?

Granddaughter plays AAU. Don’t get me started at the rough play from an All black team. It’s not just the players that are boorish, the spectators (parents) are even worse. If you play an all black team with, all black refs, fuggetaboutit.
Clark needs to muscle up, gain about 15 pounds. She’s easily moved.
That said, when Iowa played The Ohio State in the B1G tourney, Clark drew a technical from my girl Cotie McMahon. It was a cheap shot. Caitlyn can be a drama queen.
