I’ve heard of the FBI, but what does “FIB” stand for? To me, it isn't an acronym at all. It refers to the perception (facts) that the FBI doesn't always tell the truth, the whole truth, or nothing but the truth. That's FIBbing.
Maybe I've had it wrong all these years?
