Like Howard Roark and Henry Rearden, Donald Trump is a flawed but epically heroic figure.
Like many young people decades ago, I was exposed to the works of Ayn Rand, the famous novelist who escaped Bolshevik Russia in 1925 after experiencing the oppressiveness and dangers of collectivism. In high school, our class was assigned to read The Fountainhead, Rand’s seminal novel about architect Howard Roark. Roark is a talented, fiercely independent architect who is constantly held back by both mediocre, weak individuals such as career-climber architect Peter Keating and by powerful institutions represented by media mogul Ellsworth Toohey.
Roark is brilliant and refuses to go along to get along, taking slings and arrows from all sides and never backs down from a fight. This book, read at an impressionable age, changed my political views and sent me on a course toward responsible conservatism. (Sadly, it is doubtful that The Fountainhead is ever assigned reading in today’s woke education indoctrination).
My first reaction after listening to Donald Trump’s press conference the day after his sham “conviction” in New York, was that he reminded me of protagonists in Rand’s most famous novels, both Howard Roark in The Fountainhead and Henry Rearden in her later novel, Atlas Shrugged. Both protagonists were enemies of the collective, forces that were always trying to tear down greatness and level humanity into bland mediocrity. Both characters fought tirelessly even when being crushed by the system. Both were flawed but epically heroic figures.
I have been “reluctant Trumper” for many years. His personal flaws bother me as do his deficiencies in executive administration and personnel decisions. However, his absolute, unwavering resolve in fighting back against the corrupt New York and Federal legal system is inspiring. Additionally, for years he has been fighting back against institutions aligned against him...

I think the globalist left will try to distract us with WWIII. That is how much I think they crave absolute power.
BUMP
I’m afraid that you are correct. They don’t really have anything else.
Really? Style over substance? Why should I give crap what you think....
Bkmk
Even a reluctant Trumper such as me has to admire this spirit and realize that Donald Trump may be the last hope we have of saving our fragile republic.
There are many people that thinks the same way as the author. I started out in 2015 not liking Trump. I thought he was “mean”. BUT the more I listened to him, the more I paid attention to his words and actions, I realized that the man had what it would take to get our country back on the right track. No one is like Trump. No one would have lasted like Trump. I came to support Trump 100%. I will stand by him no matter what. Some people don’t like Trump because they think he isn’t “presidential”. I think that has been the best part of President Trump.
Would the left drop us and the world into the hell of global war to distract us from their power grab? Rational people would find it hard to believe.
The same when confronted with FDR’s knowledge of the details of the Japanese attack on Pearl. If a ‘normal’ person had the information provided by the Enigma codebreaker and knew the date and time of the assault, he or she would do everything to move our soldiers from harm’s way, not orchestrate it into a bloodbath for the furtherance of one’s own plans.
Face it, we are pawns to the globalists. Trump is our Rook!
You should keep that part to yourself. It is like saying I was political idiot but now I am smart. Smart like you early MAGA types were all along. So listen to my opinion.
The writer should keep that part to himself. It is like saying “I was political idiot but now I am smart. Smart like you early MAGA types were all along. So listen to my opinion.”
C’mpn... I voted for the guy twice, and even I think this is a stretch.
Being homeschooled, I read Ayn Rand’s works early in life. Even in her world he’d be unique.
Really? Style over substance? Why should I give crap what you think....
Trump's personal flaws include adultery, which is more egregious than a matter of mere "style."
Oh HS. Style over substance. Now we have brain dead grifter as President.
later
“Trump’s personal flaws include adultery,”
Of course his personal flaws include adultery. We all know this because the New York Times, Washington Post, MSNBC, and CNN told us so. He has denied it, but who you going to believe, the honest and ethical mainstream press or Donald Trump?
I believe the mainstream press usually lies. And Trump sometimes lies.
I’d love to see good society go Galt!
