Well, yes you are correct.

But that is where we acknowledge those who served in war who survived the experience, and that was the point I was making to distinguish Veterans' Day from Memorial Day.

I apologize for my faux pas of adding the extra word of battle rendering it to be an incorrect statement.

Thank you for the correction, Sir. I am dismayed there is so much insulting argument over the meaning of Memorial Day. We all know who it honors. Jane Long posted above a succinct and correct definition of the the 3 days that honor military service:

Armed Forces Day: For those who are still in uniform.
Veterans Day: For those who have hung up their uniforms.
Memorial Day: For those who couldn't hang up their uniforms due to in theater death.
