We should have a party for the 500th thread.

How about a thread that’s nothing but slides? Or a review of past slides?

Great idea! We have some weapons grade slides to draw upon and yet we're still capable of moar! I like your idea to give peeps plenty of time and space to commemorate the  mileage and memories.

Option 1) We could continue posting 'news' on the prior thread 499 (move it past the 3000) and leave the 500 thread for slides?  I think some people might stray in to the new thread and wonder whuts' whut though, like we went 'offline' permanently.

Option 2) The prior thread lasted 20 days before Festival - I think a 20 day slide party might kill or at least wound most FRens, so maybe put the slide itself in Festival?

To (try) to avoid confusion, we could post 'normal' on thread 500 (for us, I meant normal for us) and then kick off FESTIVAL 500th with a slide party. The new 501st  thread would be standing by for usual content in case 'stuff happens' or for those who are slide-averse (as apposed to slide-questioning or slide-proud). Festival is 'that way' anyway.  ;)

Leaving thread 501 active but on standby would  give us somewhere to share real content/links without having to search a slide environment for it. If news is slow, the active 501th thread could be quiet and not pick up speed until peeps simply tire out of FESTIVAL 500th and stagger in, or are carried in late.

We'd need to put periodic link reminders on the active 501st thread that Festival 500th is in motion and has room for moar. I could explain and link Festival 500th in the ping to the new thread, too.

Maybe slides could be supplemented with favorite memes in FESTIVAL 500th because I see so much good, perfectly fresh antique memes in the attic when I search for things and it would be great for peeps to see 'em again. Plus, some of the biggest slides will be snapped up quickly, leaving the less agile to forage for the impressive but smaller slides. With fav memes and slides,it would be like a free-to-steal opportunity.

Re Slide party:

I like that idea. And we could reprint Bagster’s famous plea to end the Owl Slide. We could also highlight the Q thread’s greatest moments. I’ll bring the Manhattans!

That's a great idea.

I fully support it but with one caveat, NO PowerPoint allowed.

No man ever won a war by doing PowerPoint presentations for his country. He won it by making the other poor, dumb, son-of-a-bitch do PowerPoint presentations for his country.
