no- it doesn’t get dark in Indy until after after 8PM. They could start at 5PM and easily go 500 miles before dark

My Brother was going to take Me one year maybe 1966 or 67 (I was 5 or 6) but during a road safety inspection there was a massive crack in one of the A-Frames so that got scrubbed 🙁

His ride was a Pontiac GTO 389 Tri-Power 4 speed.

Sitting in Lot 2 waiting for the rain to stop. The heaviest has passed. Green flag probably 4 or 430. They’ll get at lwast 101 laps. I expect a full race, as it will stay light enough until 8 pm.

Listening to IndyCar radio network (the absolute best!!).

Just said the rain will stop just after 3PM and not expecting a Green Flag until 5/5:30. They believe even if the flag drops at 6PM they can get all 500 miles in (of course this does not account for yellow flags)

Rain is almost over. The race will start if they can get the track dried before 5:00. Not sure if that is Eastern or Central time. What will Larson do?

Indianapolis does not change the clocks. They are in a CST area but use EST.

Guys on Indy car radio feel if it clears and there is no second band, they could start as late as 6PM Indy time and get all 500 miles in. Of course if there are a ton of yellow flags.

They just said there is another small sliver of rain that could sneak through

The NASCAR 600 in Charlotte, NC starts at 6:00 EST. My guess is that Larson is already in the air.

Yes, I was there that year. Ran out of time, ended up listening to the race while driving home. The Brickyard Museum was nice.
