Watch “Pictures of You” from The Cure’s landmark livestreamed performance of Disintegration at Sydney Opera House on 30 May 2019.

“Our five shows at the Sydney Opera House in May 2019 - celebrating the 30th anniversary of the 1989 album Disintegration - are among the most memorable we have ever played - indeed, our entire Sydney trip was like a wonderful dream... I am so happy the final night of the run was captured in such expressive style by our longtime friend and director Nick Wickham - the release of the whole concert can’t be too far away… ” - Robert Smith

You wouldn’t know it to look at him but apparently Robert Smith has a wicked sense of humor.

Like when some twitwit posted a photo of young him (with trademark disheveled hair) and lamented, “Why can’t I find a guy like him?”

When today Robert Smith replied (along with his today photo), she snubbed him. And he very deadpan replied, “I’m literally the guy in the pic.”

Plus Robert Smith defeated Mecha-Streisand.

I love that song. As in many of his compositions, Roger gives this song a lengthy introduction. That intro, with his tuneful ukulele plucking, is so satisfying, I wish there was an extended version of it.

If you want an example of how creative and sublime Rodger Smith was early in Cure’s career, listen to “Close To Me”.
It’s so catchy, you may not want to stop listening to it.

Smith’s voice has gotten better with age. It was too shrill for my taste in the Cure’s heyday. Hence never cared much for them.

Great album. Not a bad song on it. Reminds me of the good old days.
