1329 people were killed by police officers last year.

A cursory examination of the cases will show that +90% of the fatalities involved individuals violently resisting arrest. Additionally, over 80% of those killed were multiple offenders.

In the most recent numbers available, 2022, showed over 53,000,000 police interactions in the US. Your odds of being killed by a police officer, if you are not a repeat offender and you don’t violently resist arrest, are so low as to be ridiculous.

I will concede that one death is too many, but the hysteria that surrounds police shootings is not warranted.

An estimated 40,990 people died in motor vehicle traffic crashes in 2023. You want a crusade? Lower THAT number.

Even if your “cursory examination” is accurate that still leave 133 people that were NOT resisting DEAD. Almost 3 people a week. A little over 1 every 3 days.

And being “repeat offenders” is meaningless, their past is immaterial. What matters is right then.

I think there isn’t nearly enough hysteria to cops flat out murdering someone every 3 days. They’re supposed to serve and protect.
