It would seem bitter tastes help stimulate gastric acid release.

This could mean eating less bitter foods near bedtime could help with acid reflux. Additionally, as we tend to lose the ability to create stomach acid as we age, perhaps bitter foods could help with digestion, as well.

Interesting!..............

I have been dealing with a lot of acid reflux. At the same time I have cronic UTI infections. Thus I have been drinking about a cup a day of un-sugared, not from concentrate, pure cranberry juice from Trader Joe's Market. I am having less reflux now and feel better. The cranberry juice is quite bitter...but I've adjusted to that and now enjoy it with my breakfast.
