Salt Water Taffy is said to have received its name after a boardwalk candy shop
flooded from the Atlantic Ocean in 1883, soaking all the taffy in salty seawater.
Reportedly, the shop owner joked with a customer that all
he had to sell was “salt water taffy,” and the name stuck.
May be...but it also looks like the candy stores at the beaches in SC/NC. The wife loves fudge and we can’t get out of one of those stores without spending $$$.
