“It took me less than 2 weeks to lock my husband down”

My first wife and I met my senior year in college, at beginning of 2nd semester. Friends suggested I ask her out, went to one party together on Saturday night, When I took her home that night I asked her what she had planned on Sunday, she that she would be teaching children's Sunday school class. And I told her that I would go there with her, she agreed. I sat in one of the tiny chairs in her classroom and watched her and the kids.

We saw each other ever day after that. She told me later that she called an old boyfriend, that she thought she had found the one.

We were married in about 8 months. She died in 2018, after 47 years of marriage.

After she died I shifted my time taking care of my elderly father almost full time. One day I went to the bank to make a deposit, a misunderstanding in conversation with the Teller, gave me the impression she was flirting. (the bank employees had been kind to me after my wife's death)

I mulled that around a few weeks and then one Sunday I called her on the phone and asked her if she would have lunch with me, she said yes, but she was teaching children's Sunday school. I told her that I would have lunch ready after the services.

I made one of my better recipes, Sweet and Sour Chicken. Use the best ever recipe for the sauce. We talked for about 2-3 hours. Then repeated the meal routine for a while, within 2 weeks it was clear to both of us that it was intended we meet.

We are both excellent cooks. Don't make same dishes.

A year later we married in the middle of the Covid lockdown insanity. There were only 5 people allowed in our wedding, but the minister's wife captured it on her cell phone and put it on the Church website. (we are town of 600 people) There were 2200 views of the wedding within 2 weeks. Smile.

We have both been blessed by God.

I am 76 now, she is younger than I am. With 4 years of marriage we are starting over.
