Brown claims his assets are worth just $50,000 or less, according to court documents
Former NFL star wide receiver Antonio Brown has filed for bankruptcy. According to the Times Union, Brown owes nearly $3 million to eight different creditors as stated by paperwork filed on May 15 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Southern District of Florida. He reportedly filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which involves the court-supervised reorganization of a debtor's assets and liabilities.
That amount includes a $1.2 million court judgment to Anton Tumanov -- a moving-truck driver who sued Brown for assault and battery during an altercation in 2020. It also includes money owed on a credit card, a marketing firm and a law firm, among other debts.
Brown's own media company, CTESPN Network confirmed the bankruptcy filing via social media earlier this week.
"NFL legend Antonio Brown has filed for bankruptcy today," the post read. "He will be a first ballot Hall of Famer in 2027. He will be releasing new music this summer. He is also the founder of the most trusted source in all of sports.

He saw a lot of success as a seven-time Pro-Bowler and even won a Super Bowl ring with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. However, Brown has not been back on the field since 2022, when he took off his shirt and left in the middle of a game against the New York Jets.
Brown made over $88 million as a player, but he currently claims he has less than $50,000 in assets.
One can only wonder how/why the mentally ill/emotionally disturbed are continually accommodated to the detriment of the pubic at large.

I believe the percentage is 50% are broke within ten years(or less) of retiring from the NFL.
All you have to do is literally sock away your first year’s salary and let it sit in a mutual fund, then you can spend every dollar afterwards and be fine.

The AVERAGE length of an NFL career is now just three years. Including back up QBs and kickers who have typically a much longer career in the league.
Running backs average about 2 years. Very few actually earn the amount that Antonio Brown did over his career. He had amazing talent, BUT even guys like Tom Brady could not help him. He tried. They guy is literally NUTS(crazy).
So, this is not surprising to me at all. In fact. I would not be surprised IF we read about him dying young in some accident.

Meaning CTE/concussions made him go crazy OR was he always crazy even before college? Which is why he ended up at Central MI U instead of Miami or Fl St or some other high end Division One college down south.
The way these players play, you almost have to be somewhat crazy.
True. When you see the eye popping amounts of money that some of these players make, it stuns me that they are not set for life financially.
Even if they only have a short career in professional sports, it should be enough for the rest of their lives if they manage their money carefully
A glance at his wiki info reveals a very long list of criminal behavior.......this guy might actually be better off in prison......at least that way he can be protected from what is apparently his own worst enemy.....HIMSELF
My thesis is that it’s a combination of both. Clearly this guy had a lot of issues going into college but he, to his credit, managed to quash much of that during his glory years in Pittsburgh. But eventually whether by too many hits or just his nature, his true self emerged. And here we are.
Blacks make up about 80% of the NFL, so they also make up a lot of the people who end up penniless.
I have met two ex NFL players who are in my industry. Neither one was a big star. They were both second string bench warmers. So, neither one was paid the big bucks. Although, even now the league minimum is around $500K. They both had a career after football.
I also went to SU where I got to know a couple football players. I was in class with one and the other literally lived next door. One was a bench warmer. The other was the star of the team. The star went on to play in the NFL and eventually wrote several books. He unfortunately now is in a wheelchair with a debilitating neurorlogical disease. Again, maybe caused by too many hits to the head.
The problem with a lot of these athletes is that they are pushed through high school and college because they have amazing natural talent. They have a tutor assigned so that they can pass basic course work. They are at those universities for one reason only. Their athletic ability. Very few are there to actually study. They know it and the college knows it. They put people in the seats of the stadium. They generate revenue for the college. Very few of them could even get into college based on their intelligence.
Out of those great college athletes only a small percentage actually become pros. Only 1696 NFL players actually make it on the team every season. Another 512 make it on the practice squad. Which still make around $100K/year.
So, only the best of the best of the best ever end up in the NFL.
Tim Green is a very interesting guy and accomplished so much in his life, it’s so tragic what he is dealing with at the end of it.

Yes, I recall seeing a clip of Gronk on the field after the Pats won a SB. He was so amped up. Kind of like Roid Rage look he was scary.
My eldest daughter and I both got to meet Steelers players of our respective generations; mine being Mike Webster at a book signing, hers being Joey Porter. The two are tales of opposing sides of a coin.
ESPN put out a documentary on this subject. Most of these athletes start giving money and buying nice things for their family and friends, usually out of being guilt tripped by them. then the federal, state, and local taxmen comes calling. They couldn’t say no at the time.
I did not want to say his name, but you guessed correctly. A very nice guy too. Not stuck up. It was amazing that he could maintain a 4.0 GPA average in Computer Science while being the captain and star player on the football team. You never heard about him be out and getting drunk and generally being a jerk.
They hurl their bodies with reckless abandon almost without fear of injury or consequences. I knew a guy who was in the mix for the Olympic ski jump team, fearless.
