We were just inside the edge of a cell here in Iowa yesterday afternoon, and it was interesting to stand there and observe it (at least until the wind went from about nothing to 50+ mph in less time than it takes to tell about it). I prudently went inside when the the proverbial s__ hit the theoretical fan.

I seldom get truly spooked by thunderstorms anymore, but this one was very eerie both visually and aurally... almost malignant.

It was spooky, a wicked storm.
The death toll in Greenfield appears to be bad, total number will be released today.
43 seconds was all it took to do the damage it did.
I have damage in the DSM metro , for a few seconds I thought a tornado was overhead as I saw debris swirling and lifting .
The National Weather Service did a really good job predicting and tracking it.
