Probably depends on the exact area of the country. I’m just turning 70 this year and the most antiquated thing I remember is the “party line”. And as kids, calling the operator to ask what time it is lol.

We had numbers to dial for time and weather, with automated responses. A few years ago, I read that the Naval Observatory was still doing Time; I don’t know if it’s still true.

The time service I remember was “popcorn” and had an automated voice saying “at the tone, the time will be xyz and xy seconds.”

When I was a kid “time” was automated and you dialed 555-1212.
