While a petition calling for the firing of Harrison Butker, one of the greatest placekickers in the NFL, has gained more than 100,000 signatures, sales of his jersey are skyrocketing. Why all the controversy?

As you can see from the picture, they were young radicals when Vatican II exploded like a hydrogen bomb ... They have gotten old, but they haven’t grown up.
The "Catholics ain't Christians and the only real way to be a real Christian is if you name the exact day you were saved and professed Jesus as your Lord and Savior" crowd hasn't gotten that memo.
I think those on the petition don’t watch NFL football.
Or they don’t like the Chiefs.

Pfffft!
“I wonder how many actually watch football.”
I’ll go see our local high school team play every now and again.
But I have zero interest in watching franchise employees of a multibillion dollar corporation run around acting as if what they do matters.
And I shake my head in wonder at the customers of these franchises who think it’s “their team” when the players and managers are all itinerant workers.
I’d rather go cheer for my local McDonald’s staff as they serve lunch. At least the workers are mostly locals.
Same thing happened at ostensibly Catholic Georgetown University back in year 2002 or maybe ’03, when they invited a Catholic bishop from Africa to speak at graduation. He spoke about the scriptural importance of the biological family and against the promotion of homosexuality, whereupon a bunch of faculty Karens got up from their seats on the platform and stormed off in front of the graduating class and parents. More than 20 years ago.
Lately the black bishops of Africa have been trying to save the United Methodist Church from this same folly, but have been shunned or manipulated out of their rightful place at the UMC National Convention, so that the apostate UMC could triple down on their unbiblical woke embrace of LGBTQ.
If our nation does undergo the predicted financial collapse, people will soon realize why blood family, not government, is our lifeline and welfare organization; and how LGBTQ behaviors are rich people’s pastimes, costing the individual practitioners and society itself a lot of unaccounted-for dollars. Sexual sins are financially devastating to society’s poor.
