Hah, yes I get it, sort of.
My estimation remains the same. Events we view from hundreds or thousands to millions of years ago can have little (hundreds) to no (thousands, millions) relavance to mankind beyond arbitrarily assigning pretty colors to digital images. I grant you, the viewing of these far off, long ago events can be pretty cool.
Otoh, if some supernova or black hole pops up 5 or 10 light years away, maybe we need to look into that! Other than that, I favor investing mankind’s limited cash into studying and working within our solar system.
