I was on Nextdoor for about a week. It was a bunch of people either complaining about someone mowing their lawn too early on a weekend or people looking for free stuff.
My kids told me about this app, and I said no thanks. I know the neighbors on my street and a few streets over some. My husband and I walk through our neighborhood daily. Often we are stopped and people chat with us. We manage to help each other out more, because we know each other.
Granted, I live in Mayberry, and that’s the way people used to do things. “Mayberry - it’s not a place, it’s a state of mind.” - Mayberry Man
Lots of woke Karens on Nextdoor, for sure.
I don’t use it.

Yep, lots of whiners and angry gripers. Some normals and good people too. Some warnings and pics of prospective criminals casing houses, etc.
Nextdoor tried to get me to sign up a year or so back. I ignored them, and they went away. They’re not very popular in my part of central Indiana.
I was in a few years ago. There’s a very uppity HOA controlled development near us. Someone from there asked what color she was allowed to paint her front door.
I replied “You live in America. Paint it whatever color you want.”
Hilarity ensued. I was eventually canceled and kicked off
You don’t need to have some nondistinct website full of busybodies telling you how you have to live work and play. If it isn’t in the covenants then they can screw off
glad I didn’t sign up....I would like to have more local communication but not at the expense of my values and privacy.
