Putin's Crown Jewel Forced Into Fire Sale Amid Record Losses
Newsweek ^ | 5/9/2024 | Brendan Cole

Gazprom, the energy giant at the heart of Russia's economy, has announced it is selling property in Moscow, one week after posting record losses linked to restricted supplies to Europe linked to Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

The company said on Wednesday that the properties include office and non-residential buildings, a car parking lot in the capital, and the Imperial Park Hotel and spa sanatorium and resort complex in Rogozino village, just outside of Moscow.

"Gazprom is engaged in a fire sale. They had their worst year in decades, and their production has fallen precipitously, down to what it was in the 1970s," said Tom O'Donnell, an energy and geopolitical analyst based in Berlin.

"This is a result of a miscalculation by Putin," he told Newsweek.

In announcing the real estate sale, Gazprom posted a statement on Telegram next to phone numbers for prospective purchasers. "Taking into account the completion of the relocation of the Gazprom Group companies to St. Petersburg, PJSC Gazprom is announcing its intention to sell real estate in Moscow," the statement said.

A major reason why Russia was heavily sanctioned soon after it blew the pipeline. They'd sold billions worth of long term contracts at pre-war production prices. Blowing the pipeline created a Force Majur allowing Russia to renegotiate contract pricing of gas shipped via Nord Stream I and other pipelines. Increasing profit by decreasing supply. The West saw right thru it and had the sonar tapes to prove it.

That is such a convoluted story.

With the pipeline destroyed, Russia could no longer supply Europe through Germany.   How could Russia profit from renegotiated contracts if they could no longer deliver?

On top of that, only our US Navy could have destroyed the Nord Stream pipeline the way it was done.

I never thought you were a natural born American.

Most of the zeepers aren’t. I’ve said that from the beginning. Their loyalties lie with Ukraine first.

That one in particular questions decent Americans’ patriotism as a smokescreen for her own lack thereof.

I've always suspected that the one "in particular" was a person, not necessarily a woman, who got burned badly by a "RuZZZian" lover or acquaintance and ever since has harbored a seething, pathological hatred of them.

If you check their other posts, the only race they screech and scream and rail against, the only race they describe as "subhuman," and wish violent death to are Russians.

Such vile, over-the-top hatred of a single race of people is not random. It is focused and very personal. I'm certain it is caused by direct involvement with the object of that hatred. Nothing else makes sense.

"My husband fought the Russians and he killed some of them too. "

Whoa! Wait a minute. . . is your husband a German or Nazi partisan who fought the Russians in WWII?

America hasn't had a direct confrontation with Russia in the combat sense, so please, where and how did your husband kill Russians?

Is he actually a Youcraynian fighting RuZZians in this current war?

Are you Youcraynian?

Or are you simply lying through your teeth about your "husband" having killed Russians?

Yanukovich did a 180 degree U-turn regarding participation in the EU, and instead tried to ink an agreement with Moscow instead, which is what set off the Maidan revolution. Then he flees to....Moscow! What more do you want????? did a 180 degree U-turn regarding participation in the EU, and instead tried to ink an agreement with Moscow instead, which is what set off the Maidan revolution. Then he flees to....Moscow! What more do you want?????

The truth there is that Yanukovich had decided to sign both trade agreements, which he deemed would be the best for Ukraine, because it gave Ukraine competing agreements to get the best deals possible for their fledgling young nation. When the EU caught wind of what he was planning to do they told him that if he accepted the Russian trade agreement that the EU would rescind their trade agreement offer. Yanukovich said, I am paraphrasing, that he felt like the bride who had showed up at the church and was handed a pre-nuptial agreement to sign before the vows were exchanged. He said that was when he decided to go with Russia's trade agreement and abandon the EU's trade agreement completely.

The problem with you Zeepers is that you think you know the truth, but in reality you know nothing but what you have been told. If anyone else tries to tell you the truth you dismiss that truth and call the person a liar spreading propaganda,

However, that does not give the people the right to begin a revolution. Yanukovich had agreed to allow a new election to take place earlier that it would normally occur in order to have a peaceful transition. But according to many knowledgeable people the CIA used this to fomented a color revolution so that the transition would be a violent one to rush in a new administration that was amenable to our presence being there to help them along. Or stated another way, to get a foot in the door under the guise of being a friend in a time of need.

That in turn provoked Putin to invade and retake the Crimea that Russia had taken from the Ottoman Empire in the late 1700s, around the time we were declaring our nation an Independent nation no longer a colony controlled by Great Britain. In 2008, Putin had stated that NATO expansion into either Georgia or Ukraine would be viewed by Russia as being red lines that would not be tolerated. Unlike Obama that had made red line statements, Putin was serious that these red-lines he had presented.

Or shall we talk about a REAL coup attempt from 2014, led by one O. Bahtiyarov, complete with Molotov cocktails, intending to overthrow the interim government left in place after Yanukovich fled. Funded by a Russian entity calling itself the "Eurasian Youth Union'. Much more recently, Ukraine disrupted a plot to assassinate Zelensky.

March 31, 2014: SBU detains Russian provocateur believed to have planned raid on parliament, cabinet buildings (UPDATE)

If you notice the date of that article, it falls suspiciously close after Russia had seized back control of the Crimea in Feb. of 2014. Do you know what they did as a result of this supposed action?

He was banned from Ukraine. Hardly a befitting penalty one would expect considering the claim being made. Of course, you, no doubt, believe that Zelenskyy was being magnanimous, right? I also like the word believed in the headline. Considering the penalty meted out, I believe it very well could have been more propaganda to rile up people such as yourself that have short-fuses in a rush to get Russia, and as MeagaC puts it, make sure they can never attack anyone else, ever again!!!

Why would anyone try to sneak in illegally to Russia if Putin is running a dictatorial regime and Russia's economy is in such bad shape due to sanctions?

I guarantee you that Putin and the Russian government are at least trying their best to secure Russia's borders while ours are wide open thanks to Biden.

There isn't any comparison between the damage being done to this country by illegal immigration as opposed to whatever negative effects in may be having in Russia.

The growth in the Russian GDP that you refer to adds little to Russia's productive capacity or civilian well-being.

Your problem making this claim is that Russia is NOT behind an iron curtain. Russian vloggers put out videos daily. And, the ones I watch have said there is very little difference between life now and before the sanctions were implement. There has been some inflation but not nearly as bad as here under Biden.

The only impact sanctions have had on the average Russian is that it has hindered where he or she can travel.

Russia may end up occupying a substantial slice of Ukraine but it will have little economic benefit to Russia because, even now, she lacks the people and technical resources needed for proper development of her economic potential.

That is beyond an ignorant contention.

Russia has, probably, as advance a military and space program as exists in the world. It's either us or them.

Unquestionably, Russia's manufacturing capacity is greater than the entire West combined as proven by Russia's 10-1 advantage in ammo and missiles in the war in Ukraine.

Russia's natural resources are unmatched.

A hatred that blinds one to reality is one that is dangerous.

Could be, there is definitely something off with regards to these people. But then there are politicians that I know are not foreigners who also support this conflict. However, I suspect many of them are reaping riches with the assist of their insider knowledge. So, I can’t state with certainty & honesty what the citizen status is of these people, so I consider them as being useful idiots to explain their devotion in this conflict for Ukraine. I personally have no side that I root for, because I am only concerned about what I see happening in this nation. Plus I see this as an evil act, and I despise evil.

“How much more subversive do Russians have to be before you’ll recognize it?”

Russians are for some reason incapable of recognizing Russian subversion. Some of them will brag about it when it suits them and then deny it when it doesn’t.

They never see or recognize the contradiction because to the Soviet mind there are NEVER any contradictions in the government narrative.

Huge impact of sanctions. Limited or sub par spare parts.

And Gazprom delisted on Western exchanges. Too bad it was a good stock with nice dividends. But, as he said -Putin.
