I looked it up. His wife died this past January. They were married in the 90’s, and adopted five children, but they don’t say the ages.
Following the path of his pal and Beach Boy fill-in Glen Campbell.
Another musical genius about to sadly lose it all.
Wow, so very sad.
Yeah. You knew that their music was the genuine socal surfing sound and other than The Beach Boys I have no idea what that should sounds like except that it should sound like The Beach Boys.
Never really cared that much about their music. Thought “The Sloop John B” was a good tune
Now that song has a whole different meaning (My Generation).
He’s coming for all generations. The younger ones don’t think of it cause in their mind only the old folks die.
I’m waiting for a kid to proclaim that he/she will never identify as dead. The kid won’t see the unintended truth of the statement.
The Beach Boys version was a reworked cover of the Kingston Trios version (The wreck of the Sloop John B)of the song from 1958. The original song is a Bahamian song from 1916 entitled The John B Sails.
Brian Wilson did have a very good mastery of making music. Sadly, it probably won’t help him now.
And this may not have helped:
“In 2016, Wilson sat down with Rolling Stone to discuss Love & Mercy, a film about Landy’s coercive relationship with Wilson. Reflecting on what he’d like people to take away from his story, he said: “I want people to realise that drugs can be very detrimental and dangerous. I’ve told a lot of people don’t take psychedelic drugs. It’s mentally dangerous to take. I regret having taken LSD. It’s a bad drug.”

IMO they were mainly a Kalifornia thing.Maybe that's why I've never paid any attention to them.
Growing up, I was a Beatle fan and considered the Beach Boys more like teeny bopper bubble gum music.
“Pet Sounds” was saved by The Wrecking Crew but more so Tony Asher writing the lyrics with a more adult, mature theme.
I do have a CDR mono master copied direct from the master tape from a friend who re-mastered “Pet Sounds” - sound quality is far superior to the commercial pressing.
LSD can be lifelong debilitating for some
I watched Blackbird mini series again last week with W
The prison shrink warns protagonist that everyone isn’t like him
That some folks are just one thought away from a debilitating lifelong shift in psyche
I think psychedelics even very high pot doses may do that for some
There’s a world where “I get Around” is #1 on the charts forever.
I was reluctant to start that …….and then I didn’t want it to end!
