(It also strikes me as odd, given your prior posting history regarding the Confederacy: Mexico had outlawed slavery in Texas in 1829, and the American settlers coming into Texas wanted to keep their chattel slaves, to point of making it part of their 1836 constitution when declaring themselves an independent republic.)

The United States chose to annex Texas after various negotiations (initially secret) during the Tyler Administration. (The annexation of Texas didn't even properly specify the actual borders of the territory being claimed!)

When we annexed Texas, Mexico — having warned Secretary of State Abel Upshur multiple times previously that annexation would result in a declaration of war — followed through.

Any detached viewer of military history can see that Mexico's casus belli was justifiable.

Santa Anna lost the battle of San Jacinto and signed the treaty. Decided to change his mind and start a war nine years later.

The Texas rebellion was concurrent with a greater Mexican rebellion against Santa Anna when he repealed the Mexican constitution.

Your timeline is incorrect. An Israeli ISR aircraft labeled it as American. This was not properly recorded at HQ, something that would not have occured if there had been an American naval liaison. Hours later, another aircraft found USS Liberty and reported it as Egyptian spy ship coordinating nearby Egyptian forces. There was an egyptian trawler in the area. The Israeli HQ marked the Liberty as egyptian and then redirected a flight of aircraft from a land strike and infantry support to take it out.
