A large fraction of our WWII Generals were psychopaths and there was a standing joke in the pre war US army that it was job requirement for any officer to be mentally ill in order to be promoted to General.

One of our Army Air corps Commanders who later became head of SAC in the 1960s (not LeMay , BTW) was considered by many to be an out and out sadist.

But they got the job done.

In war DEI = DIE

I do not think that Patton was a psychopath. Neither was Chesty Puller. They were simply genuine warriors trained to kill on a large organized scale during war time. They had that attitude by necessity.

Puller was an extremely loyal family man. while Patton was a brilliant academic, a master of world history.

Nowadays they are "psychopaths." If that's the case, we need a whole lot more psychopaths in the Pentagon and in charge of our combat soldiers.

Today's military leaders are not war ready leaders. They are pansies by comparison to the likes of Patton and Puller, except for a very few.

So who would YOU follow into war? A so called psychopath who gives one the best chance to come out alive, or a pansy who would sacrifice your life for some arcane political principle? I'll take the so called psychopath as my leader every time, thank you very much.
