good to know.
These are the same bastards that were storing credit card information they weren’t supposed to and got hacked in 2023.
Apparently they didn’t learn their lesson. They need to be shut down.
“…collecting and storing her biometric data, including face and fingerprint scans“
Em… that’s quite a trick
People I know sign up for every damn thing, they take drugs they know nothing about, they sign up for crappy banks using facial ID What do they do this for. Why do they trust corporations
And then they’re mad their data is used nefarious.
Is that what she’s trumping to say here? That they’re using her data without her consent? Because she most certainly consented to giving her data.
They all do it. What do you think those cameras on the self-service checkout kiosks are for?
I’m not sure how they would collect fingerprints (?).
As far as facial recognition goes, I’m not sure this can be stopped, or, should we expect that it be stopped?
The moment you step in public you’re probably being recorded. Expecting a camera to not be hooked into some face scanning software isn’t enforceable. It could be used to identify trespassed persons. Sales teams may want to know what items you looked at, send you recommendations. E.g. you looked at only 70” or higher TV’s the last time you were in the store, now you’re back, a system could prompt an employee to inform you there’s a sale on an 82” TV.
You are in their place of business. They already record you, they don’t need your permission. Your face is not private. Is a system recognizing you any different than a person doing so?
Unless they’re doing something more sinister I don’t see a legal basis for a lawsuit. As said, the fingerprint claim is odd.
They are gathering my debit card information and purchases and then targeting me with specific coupon offers.
I don't know if that is illegal or not
If you have a face and go out in public, you are subject to facial recognition.
GOOD FOR HER
