Oh, I sure hope she makes it to 100! My Mom is 86 and is ‘The Energizer Bunny!’ I hope she lives forever. :)
My MIL is still living independently in her own home, and has a caregiver come every day, but doesn’t stay overnight. The caregiver does the cooking and helps her get dressed if needed.
Her biggest challenge is with electronics if something goes out, she doesn’t know how to get things rebooted, and can’t manage toggle switches on devices as well. She was (still is) a stubborn gal, so was very proficient with the computer and other devices like cell phones for a long long time. Her hearing is going, but she just got refitted for hearing aids, and that seems to be improving. Her biggest trouble is macular degeneration so it makes it hard to point cursors in the right place.
She only uses a cane, and only when she goes out in public. She’s fine in her normal surroundings. Her short term memory isn’t very good anymore. I think the hard drive there is full. She eats three square meals a day, and is still pretty fit in that regard. We know she won’t last forever, but she is in amazing shape for her age.
I hope your Mom will age as nicely as my MIL has!
