A school superintendent has been sacked after a campaign of harassment against girls she claims didn't applaud her daughter enough.

Marian Kim Phelps was unanimously removed by the Poway Unified School District board this week after it 'lost confidence in her ability'.

Phelps' vendetta against 10 softball players on her daughter's team at the school district of 36,000 students north of San Diego began almost a year ago.

It is common in Oklahoma for administrators of small rural independent school districts with something on the range of 200 to 250 students or less to be paid packages on the order of $200,000 per year. They are often amongst the highest paid and securely employed people in dirt poor areas and inevitably are the earliest and most well off retirees. There are hundreds of these little schools across the state that should at least be part of consolidated and more efficiently run systems. All this in a state that is too poor to fix its roads or even pay attention.

In a recent federal jury pool experience I was shocked that by far and away the majority of people employed were in local education or some form of social services. The rest were in trades and seldom agriculture or retired from some industry, federal or military job outside the area. Rural Oklahoma is a good example of a nation that produces nothing or not much. Another "service based" economy.

We have no shortage of overpaid bureaucrats at every level of our state and federal government. That has always been the case, however what is new is how utterly useless and entitled these freaks have become; producing zero value for their salary.

No one-to-one contact between an adult and a minor, regardless of the topic, is a youth protection safeguard. All communications should include a parent/guardian; in-person conversations need to be in public, that is, line-of-sight with witnesses.
