My cousin measures how good a place is to live by the number of miles to the nearest stoplight - the more the better.
The town I lived in previously was 1,000 people. It was in a county with one stop light - that was located in the county seat 12 miles away - a town with a population of around 4,000.
The county also had a presidential birthplace and library and was on a major East-West interstate highway.
I regret moving, but not much. This place is closer to more of life’s necessities and a few more variety in dining and shopping. That said, it’s 15 minutes from the 3rd largest city in the state and 15 minutes from the smaller city of 20,000 where I graduated High School 50 years ago. I’m on a circle drive street where nobody comes through here except if they have a reason to. Quiet and peaceful.
Just checked mine.. 16 miles.
